Summary
Warnings from Azure about deprecated FlashGrid images can be safely ignored.
Symptoms
-
Azure Portal shows messages about images being deprecated, such as below:
- There is an email saying that a virtual machine is running on images that are scheduled for deprecation or already deprecated.
Affected Products
- FlashGrid Cluster on Azure
- FlashGrid Server on Azure
Affected Versions
All versions are affected.
Root Cause
Automatic Azure Advisor checks and email notifications about images being deprecated, which are primarily aimed at virtual machine scale sets (VMSS), not virtual machines.
Resolution
These warnings can be safely ignored.
FlashGrid regularly updates the VM images used for deployments on Azure, with older images being removed from Marketplace.
FlashGrid does not use VMSS and there is no need to re-deploy with the same images used for an existing deployment. Any new deployment will use a new version of the VM image published by FlashGrid.
You should maintain your existing deployment by applying the latest security and software updates available for Linux through regular operating system patch maintenance procedures.
